Love at First Sight

I'm not one for all that love at first sight bullshit but this was different.

My gaze fell up on her from across the room and my heart beat spiked instantly. She was gorgeous - a wonderful full-bodied specimen dressed in white, with only a glimpse of her caramel skin shining through, and curves in all the right places.

I couldn't have stopped the dorky smile breaking out on my face if I had tried.

She smiled back. At least, I think she did. I was blinded for a second, lost in hazy mind of an early morning hangover and sudden erotic thoughts, and by the time I shook the cobwebs from my head and looked back she was making her way over to me.

My palms began to sweat which struck me as depressingly absurd. Why the fuck do palms need to sweat? What possible benefit could sweat on the palms provide?

I rubbed my hands on my pants before I could catch myself. My heart was thumping faster in anticipation. So fast that all I could hear was the blood rushing through my ears. My face suddenly felt flushed. Is it hot here? It feels hot. Did someone put the heater on? For fuck sate why wont my hands stop sweating?

Next thing I knew she was at my table. I gave a friendly nod of acknowledgment and then let my gaze wander. I was trying to be cool but inside I was struggling to hold back the desperate primal urge. This close I could smell her; a dark and exotic aroma that tantalised my senses, and I longed to taste her soft kiss on my lips.

🎵 Then I went and spoiled it all by say something stupid like...

"I love you." I whispered, barely audible, scared to have even had the thought. Scared to have even considered voicing it.

Silence. She did not say it back.

She never does. After all, she is just my morning coffee.
